Many football icons have added their voice on former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi’s lifetime ban by the FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee. Many have divergent view as far as the lifetime ban to the former Caf First Vice President is concerned. One of the icons who have shared his views on the said matter is Former Ghana Attacker Augustine Ahinful.
According to Ahinful, this could happen to anyone and he doesn’t expect Ghanaians to rejoice or jubilate over the downfall of Nyantakyi.
“This is a big lesson to us all and serves as a deterrent to others but one thing I can also say is that we shouldn’t be happy over what has happened to Nyantakyi. Let us look at the name Ghana and protect it but not Nyantakyi,” he said on Kasapa FM’s Dwidwamu Sports show.
Ahinful continued that many Ghanaians indulge in sneaky acts but because they are not exposed they think they are saints.
The Federation of International Football Association on Tuesday, October 30 brought finality to its investigations of Kwesi Nyantakyi, imposing a lifetime ban on the embattled lawyer.
The life ban follows extensive investigations by FIFA’s Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee into the conduct of Mr. Nyantakyi who was captured in an explosive expose’ by Ghanaian investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas. The adjudicatory chamber found Mr Nyantakyi guilty of having violated Article 19 (conflict of interest), Article 21 (Bribery and corruption) and Article 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition.
Mr. Nyantakyi has additionally been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs (over GHS 2.4million).
