Team Ghana has set for itself a three-medal target at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
The Argentina capital will be the centre of attention from October 6-18 where young athletes from across the world gather to battle for medals at the multi-sport competition.
The Sports Ministry has resolved to reward Ghana’s athletes with a sum of $5,000 for winning gold; $3,000 for silver and $2,000 per bronze medal.
Speaking to Starr Sports, Evans Yeboah, the leader of the Ghana contingent to the summer olympics said: “We are expecting three medals and to do better than we did in Nanjing.”
“The bonus structure was discussed in our meeting and as Chef de Mission, I had to pursue and make sure it was confirmed,” he added.
Ghana will be competing in beach volleyball, athletics, swimming and weightlifting events with five athletes at the Youth Olympics.
Team Ghana will leave Accra for Buenos Aires on September 29.
