Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has urged passionate fans to hasten slowly in passing judgement on national team players when issues crop up.
Speaking on GHOne TV’s Cheers show, the 35-year-old who experienced some backlash from fans for his alleged role in the Brazil 2014 World Cup player revolt over appearance fees, said he doesn’t believe Ghanaians are “too hard” on players but tend to appear trigger-happy regarding matters surrounding the national team.
“I won’t say they [Ghanaians are too hard [on players]; it’s how they think. They are too quick to judge without knowing the truth behind everything.
“They are too quick to judge and I mean maybe they should take their time and understand things more before they react,” Essien told host Serwaa Amihere.
