Premier League side Newcastle United are yet to officially bid for Albert Adomah, BirminghamLive has reported.
The Ghana international was linked with a move to Tyneside over the weekend with Rafa Benitez seemingly growing frustrated in his pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend.
Adomah, a fans’ favourtie at the Villa Park, is a cheaper alternative for the Magpies – but, as of yet, Villa haven’t been approached.
Adomah, 30, is attracting interest following the most productive season of his career. He grabbed a best-ever haul of 15 goals in claret and blue last term, playing a key role in Villa’s rise to the play-off final.
According to BirminghamLive, Adomah wanted to extend his contract at Villa towards the end of last season and initial discussions were held with former director of football Steve Round.
Had Villa been promoted to the Premier League Adomah would have been rewarded, but a new contract isn’t on the table as things stand.
Despite not initially being convinced by Adomah, manager Steve Bruce has been won over by the winger.
