The Ghana Premier League is set to finally have a title sponsor.
The Ghana Football Association has been on the hunt for a new major sponsor since 2015 when First Capital Plus Bank pulled out of their contract for the country’s topflight league.
Rumours of MenzGold, an investment firm, taking up the mantle had been rife within the football circles prior to the start of the 2017/18 season. But officialdom refused to deny or confirm making a headway.
However, the dust looks to be settling on the initial murmurs after bankroller of MenzGold who is also Chief Executive Officer of the Zylofon Group, Nana Appiah Mensah, officially confirmed accepting to come on board to help the league.
The business mogul, who recently acquired a Division One League club and christened it Star Madrid, paid a familiarization visit to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Saturday where he broke the news.
“Nana Appiah Mensah says I should inform you that Zylofon Media will be sponsoring the Ghana Premier League,” his close associate, Frederick Boateng announced in the presence of a gathering made up of GFA officials and members of the Ghana U-17 and U-20 male teams currently in camp at Prampram.
