The vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has been ousted from office by the Executive Committee.
An official announcement via the GFA twitter handle Tuesday afternoon said:
Breaking News: Mr George Afriyie has been released of his duties as the Vice President of the @ghanafaofficial following a meeting of the Executive Commitee. A new Vice President will be announced soon.

According to Starr Sports sources, this could be in relation with Afriyie’s decision to declare his intention to contest 2019 GFA elections after President Nyantakyi publicly announced his decision not run for a fourth term.
Afriyie’s declaration received a backlash from some members of the Executive Committee who felt he had betrayed his boss Nyantakyi.
George Afriyie was appointed as vice by GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi in 2015.
