A Ghana Premier League match had to be abandoned halfway after the referee allegedly got attacked at halftime.
The matchday 8 fixture between Elmina Sharks and Medeama SC at the Nduom Stadium was goalless after the first 45 minutes.
But centre referee Yakubu Nuhu Liman could not return for the second half.
According to reports, he had to be rushed to the hospital after sustaining an injury to his head.
The match official is believed to have been attacked by some disgruntled home fans.
After over an hour, fourth referee Daniel Dorgbetor had to call off the game after both sides failed to reach a compromise for the game to continue.
This is the second time referee Nuhu Liman has been attacked in this season’s Ghana Premier League – the first was after the 1-1 draw between Berekum Chelsea and Dreams FC at the Golden City Park on matchday two. That incident landed the hosts a three-match home ban.
