Ghanaian swimmer Jason Arthur has missed out on a place for a medal in the 100m Backstroke event at the ongoing Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The 20-year-old made the last 16 berth from Heat 5 where he finished at 5th place, clocking a time of 56.52 seconds at the Optus Aquatic Centre on Thursday..
Arthur however got slower where it mattered most – making a time of 56.85 seconds (0.35 less his record in the heats).
Jason Arthur, who was in lane 1, ended up 6th in the first semifinal event.
The Ghanaian’s time of 56.85 seconds was not enough to put him in the final race for a medal as he placed 14th after the results summary for the 100m Backstroke semifinals.
Ghana’s Jason Arthur can still have a go for medals in two other swimming events – the Men’s 100m Backstroke and Men’s 200m Individual Medley scheduled for April 9 and 10 respectively.
