Ghana suffered their second defeat, 5-0 to Canada, in Group D of the badminton mixed team event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Friday.
Emmanuel Donkor kicked things off at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre but lost to Canada’s Brian Yang 21-10, 21-10 in the Men’s Singles.
Followed by the Women’s Singles, Brittney Tam also accounted for Ghana’s Grace Atipaka 21-7, 21-7.
Men’s pair Emmanuel Donkor-Daniel Sam also failed in their attempt to redeem Ghana’s image but their Canadian opponents proved stronger winning 21-14, 21-15 in the third match – Men’s Doubles.
Canada also comfortably won the Women’s Doubles scoring 21-10, 21-11 over Ghana’s Stella Koteikai Amasah and Gifty Mensah. They then wrapped up the encounter with a 21-11, 21-13 win over Ghana’s mixed pair Daniel Sam-Eyram Migbodzi.
Ghana, after back-to-back defeats to Malaysia and Canada, sit third in Group D of the badminton mixed team event.
Ghana return to action later in the day against African counterparts Seychelles who have also lost two games.
