Team Ghana’s swimmer Abeku Jackson has failed to qualify for the finals of the Men’s 50m Butterfly at the ongoing Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia on Thursday.
After progressing from Heat 5 as one of the best 16 athletes with a time of 24.68 seconds, the Ghanaian swimmer was slower in the more competitive semifinals stage. He clocked 24.86 seconds to finish eighth in semifinal 1 at the Optus Aquatic Centre.
Jackson’s new time was not enough to place him into the Best 8 athletes for the final phase of the swimming event.
Abeku Jackson, the soon-to-be 18-year-old finished last – 16th in the overall rank for the semifinals.
Abeku Jackson’s next schedule will be in the Men’s 100m Butterfly (Heat 2) and Men’s 50m Freestyle (Heat 5) on April 8 and 9 respectively.
