Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars were beaten by Fosa Juniors on Wednesday but qualified 7-3 on aggregate to the group stage of the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup.
The Malagasy side, after falling to a heavy 6-1 loss in Dormaa, had hoped to exact revenge and topple the Ghanaians back home but they could only manage a 2-1 victory.
Fosa Juniors took the lead with a penalty and doubled their lead before halftime.
But Nathaniel Asamoah pulled one back for Aduana during the second half.
Fosa mounted pressure for more goals but could only come very close to scoring again was getting a penalty late in the game.
However, Aduana Stars goalkeeper Joseph Addo saved the resulting kick to ensure his side won the two-legged tie 7-3 on aggregate to secure a spot in the last 16.
Aduana will know their group opponents when the draw is held on Saturday April 21.
