The Secretary General of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, Anthony Baffoe has welcomed the FIFA/FIFPRO new deal which now gives players the right to break bad contracts.
The ex-Ghana international however fears it will ruin lots of player-club relationships.
“Relationship is very important but at the end of the day the player must be paid so it is important contracts are respected.
“I also don’t believe in a player just walking away but I think it’s about time players become very vigilant about their contracts. They need to always keep a copy of their contract and the FA must also have a copy so the clubs will be put on their toes,” says Baffoe.
A new rule announced by FIFA last week will give Players more power from FIFA to leave clubs who delay paying salaries or mistreat them.
This new rule by FIFA has been highly welcomed by many Ghanaian football lovers as they believe will help curb the behavior of most club owners in delaying the payments of their players.
Anthony Baffoe insists the implementation and amendment will determine the success of the new ruling.
“It’s a new era in football but now it depends on implementation and amendment,” he noted.
