After overcoming Niger 2-0 to progress to the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIfa Under-17 World Cup in India, Ghana need to pass another African hurdle in a grudge clash with Mali on Saturday.
The Malians have been tough opponents for the Ghana U-17s this year – beating them 1-0 to win the Afcon in Gabon as well as another friendly win prior to the World Cup tournament last month.
Speaking ahead of the match on Saturday, Black Starlets coach Paa Kwesi Fabin recognizes the daunting task before him.
“Every team is a threat at this stage especially Mali but we are prepared for them.
“Since we are done with the Nigeriens we are going to think of how we can get over the Maliens.” he told starrsportsgh.com.
The coach however believes his charges will be ready to defeat the African champions.
“We feel bouyant going into the game. We are ready for them, he added.
Ghana, two-time winners of the U-17 World Cup, are making their first appearance after a 10-year absence from the cadet competition.
