Winger Sadiq Ibrahim will miss Ghana’s Round of 16 action at the ongoing Fifa U-17 World Cup due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Competition rules state a player is to be suspended for a game once he receives three cautions, an offence the Black Starlet failed to avoid.
Ibrahim was cautioned in all of Ghana’s games in the group stage against Colombia, the USA and India – the latest came in the 48th minute of Thursday’s 4-0 thrashing of the tournament hosts.
The pacy winger’s absence could have a toll on Ghana as he has established himself as one of the most influential players in the team.
Ghana’s Round of 16 opponent is yet to be confirmed but the team will have to leave Indian capital New Delhi for Navi Mumbai to play their next game after emerging top of Group A.
