Defeated Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku has called for a rematch of their make or break bout with Bastie Samir preferably on March 6 next year.
The younger Bastie handed Bukom Banku his first career defeat (in 27 bouts) with a 7th round technical knockout in their cruiserweight fight held at the Bukom Boxing Arena Saturday night.
Successive killer punch combinations by Bastie saw Bukom Banku visit the canvass for the second time while suffering a cut close to his right eye. This led to the referee stopping the fight.
But Banku in an exclusive interview on Kasapa 102.5FM Monday morning sharply disagrees with the decision of the referee. According to him, he was ready to go on with the fight.
“That punch dazed me so I had to go down,” he told host Gatusso “but I got up to continue because I believed I was leading in the first six rounds.
“Unfortunately, the referee decided to stop me because I suffered a cut.
“This small blood? I was ready to continue,” Banku said.
“Well, I have accepted I lost the fight. Bastie is a good fighter. He has a good coach…
“I’m going back to train hard so we fight again. Bastie cannot beat me; I want a rematch on 6th March . I’m a knockout specialist but this time around I want us to fight at a bigger place like the stadium,” he requested.
It appears the rematch is already in the offing as the winner Bastie Samir has also indicated his readiness for a rematch.
