Accra Great Olympics, Bolga All Stars and Tema Youth are down. The trio make a quick return to where they came from – the Division One League the very season they were promoted.
Bolga All Stars knew their fate quite early in the season as they were turned into whipping boys of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League, finishing their maiden topflight campaign with 12 points – two wins and six drawn games.
Greater Accra duo Olympics and Tema Youth needed some final day magic away to Bechem United and Berekum Chelsea but failed to conjure it as they were condemned to 1-0 and 2-0 defeats respectively.
A draw against Hearts of Oak was enough for Inter Allies to maintain their topflight status as they finished the Premier League just three points above the drop zone.
Liberty Professionals also survived after coming from a goal down to beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 in Dansoman. The result displaced the Porcupines from 4th position with Ebusua Dwarfs taking it up as a result of their thrashing of Bolga All Stars at the Utrecht Park. The Porcupines finish the campaign at 5th position, same as last season.
At the Len Clay Stadium, AshantiGold hammered league winners Aduana Stars 4-2 to stay up for another season. And it was Hans Kwofie who emerged star of the day, scoring all four goals for the Miners. He also wins the top scorer award this season with 17 goals.
