Hearts of Oak gaffer Frank Nuttall says defender Vincent Atinga must be focused and confident in order to cement his place at the national team.
The centre-back’s exceptional performance which helped Ghana to win the Wafu Cup of Nations was rewarded with a debut call-up to the senior men’s team for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Uganda.
“I’m very pleased Atinga has been given this opportunity,” Nuttall told starrsportsgh.com.
“He needs to be focused and confident. You know he was picked based on merit hence must prove that he deserves to be there and is comfortable being there.
“Now Hearts of Oak is at the national level and I’m happy for the players,” he added.
Vincent Atinga becomes the second player from the rainbow club to be handed a call-up by Coach Kwasi Appiah after Winful Cobbinah.
