Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah is pleading with various federation heads to exercise patience with his outfit, saying they are still a young government in power.
The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region came under barrage of criticisms following his outfit’s inability to fund the trip of the national amateur boxing team and three other Sports disciplines to participate in international competitions which were supposed to serve as qualification to next year’s commonwealth games.
Many pundits believe he has been slow in the development of sports in the country since his appointment into office.
But Asiamah explains his outfit is faced with many challenges for a new administration. According to him, they are working hard to fix them all.
“I assumed office on the 13th of February 2017 and you know as a new government we are bedeviled with so many challenges which you all know.
“So I will only plead with you to understand our situation and the effort we are making as a young government despite those challenges.
“You know Ghana Sports has over the years faced many problems but my duty now is to fix it and not to lament and I will do just that so you just bear with me,” the Minister urged.
