Ghana ran over Ethiopia with five goals in their opening Group F match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The Black Stars started off with skipper Asamoah Gyan breaking the deadlock in the ninth minute, after heading Thomas Agyepong’s cross.
John Boye made it 2-0 after beautifully controlling the ball, before smashing past Ethiopia goalkeeper Abel Mamo.
Ebenezer Ofori, with a thunderous left-footed effort, hit the back of the net five minutes before the halftime break.
Raphael Dwamena, who was making his debut for Ghana scored a second half brace. The striker hit the back of the net from close range from a rebound – making it 4-0 to Ghana with the Ethiopia defence caught ball watching and then completed his brace on the hour-mark – scoring from close range after Mamo failed to hold onto the ball – 5-0 to the Black Stars it ended.
