Highly-rated referee Issaka Afful has been slapped with a four-match ban by the Ghana FA for poor decisions in a Ghana Premier League matchday 10 game which saw Medeama defeat Asante Kotoko 2-1 in Tarkwa.
The Porcupine Warriors had taken the lead through Ahmed Adams but two penalty decisions by the referee and his Assistant One, Kwesi Brobbey saw the hosts secure a come-from-behind victory back in April.
”After careful study of the report of the GFA Match Review Committee, the Executive Committee has approved the recommendation stated in the report on the above-mentioned match that; Referee Issaka Afful and his Assistant [One], Kwesi Brobbey are banned for four matches from match day 16,” a letter dated May 30, 2017 and signed by the GFA’s Deputy General Secretary, Alex Asante noted.
The ban has been in effect since matchday 16.
