Renowned football administrator and former GFA Match Review Panel chief, Fred Pappoe says he trusts the competence of Ghanaian referees but doubts the integrity of some of them.
According to him, some of the referees in the domestic league fail to be fair in their line of duty by favouring home teams.
“Some of the referees do not want to accept that it is possible to beat some teams at their homes.
“It’s deliberate and just lack of integrity. I don’t think it’s incompetence.
“[When I say] lack of integrity, it means you have decided to compromise your integrity for whatever reasons,” he told Adam Adjei on Agoo TV’s Dwidwamu Sports.
Pappoe who is a director of Accra Great Olympics enumerated a number of referee decisions which have affected his team in times past and added las Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Asante Kotoko in his tall list of examples.
“…Even with our game against Kotoko, I have not had the benefit of watching it on television but from where I sat in the presidential box and the decision they took, I’m still not in agreement. It even came as a shock to the Kotoko fans and the players themselves who were expecting a penalty at all cost,” he claimed.
