Ghana captain Eric Ayiah has revealed his desire to win the goal king gong at the ongoing Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The forward has been very instrumental in the Black Starlets’ impressive run so far with four of the nine goals scored by the side in three games.
”We wanted to qualify for the World Cup and now, I want to help the team win the trophy, the Charity Stars youth player said.
He then added: “I want to win the goal king award and I know I can grab it after the tournament.”
Ayiah whose goals came from a brace each against Cameroon and Gabon has earned the praise of Guinea coach Souleymane Camara.
“Ghana’s number 6 player [Eric Ayiah] has rare qualities. He is intelligent and very lively during the match,” the gaffer told Cafonline.
Ayiah is currently joint top scorer at the championship alongside Guinea’s Djibril Touré.
Ghana plays Niger in the first semifinals game at 14:30 GMT on Wednesday.
