Hearts of Oak’s new found form continued as they travelled to thump Liberty Professionals 3-0 at the Karl Reindorf Park on Sunday.
Having maintained the starting line-up that defeated league leaders WAFA SC last Monday, coach Frank Nuttall’s men enjoyed a bright start to the game but labored to find the opener.
However, they were rewarded a goal out of the blue in the 40th minute when captain Thomas Abbey when he found a loose aerial ball and managed to hit it past goalkeeper Fatao Dida Alhassan who had moved out of his line.
In the second half, Nigerian-born forward Cosmos Dauda came off the bench and made an instant impact. After replacing Kwame Kizito in the 77th minute, his first touch of the ball came through a headed goal within a minute from a cross by Fatawu Mohammed.
Thomas Abbey was on hand to score his brace to make it 3-0 in added time when the Liberty keeper pushed back a shot from midfielder Leonard Tawiah.
By the matchday 15 victory, Hearts of Oak have cemented their spot at third place with 26 points as the league goes into recess. The second round of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin on the weekend of May 27-28.
