Young Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea has been named among selected match officials for next month’s Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Starrsportsgh.com can confirm that Laryea has been enlisted in the Reserve Referee (fourth official) category and can only get onto the field to direct affairs in the unlikely event of injury to a centre referee in the course of a game.
He is the only Ghanaian to make the list which has 28 others from various Caf affiliated nations.
Eddy Maillet, Caf’s Refereeing Manager signed a letter to the Ghana Football Association inviting the 30-year-old for the competition.
Referee Daniel Laryea is expected to arrive in Libreville on May 9 for a fitness test and a refresher course. The Under-17 Afcon kicks off on May 14.
