Bashir Hayford could not be disappointed with his AshantiGold side despite suffering a 0-1 defeat to Aduana Stars on the opening day of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League.
The Miners had held their owned at the ‘difficult’ Nana Agyeman Badu Park for 86 minutes before losing steam and allowed a Derrick Saskraku headed goal into their net.
“My boys did very well. Playing Aduana in the first away match is not easy at all and we all saw it,” coach Bashir Hayford said in his remarks after the game.
He continued: “Winning here or even taking a point is very difficult so we are happy we did not disgrace ourselves. We played very well but with football, there should be a result and they were able to get a corner kick, headed it home and we were down by one goal.”
“It was a fantastic play by my boys so I’m not disappointed at all,” the Miners’ gaffer added.
Looking ahead, coach Hayford said: “I know the team will be very strong in future.”
AshantiGold will welcome Premier League returnees Accra Great Olympics at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on match-day two.
