Players of Accra Hearts of Oak Tuesday morning refused to attend training in protest of unpaid salaries.
Starrsportsgh.com has confirmed that the collective decision by the contracted footballers is as a result of the monies owed them for the past three months.
Late November, bankroller of the Phobians, Togbe Afede released an amount of GH¢550,000 for the payment of salaries and sign-on fees for retained and newly recruited players.
And from this amount, further checks from our desk indicate the players only received cash representing their September and October salaries.
Starrsportsgh.com understands that Hearts of Oak spends close to GH¢100,000 per month on salaries for players and administrative staff.
The strike action thus affects the team’s final preparations ahead of their opening game in the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League. Hearts play guests to Inter Allies FC at the El Wak Stadium this Saturday.
